Why Did Aemond Targaryen not Become King

So the reason why Aemond Targaryen did not become king  instead was due to the fact that his older brother, Aegon II, was named heir to the throne. If you ask me, i think he is mora capable of ruling Westerosi than his brother Aegon II, i mean he’s a better fighter, he’s fierce, ambitious and he has some leadership skills.

 Although Aemond was ambitious and capable, it was law and tradition in Westerosi that the eldest son inherited the crown. And also don’t forget that  at time when Viserys I Targaryen was about to die, he made some comment suggesting that Aegon II was to be made king, although to some extent, the statement made by Viserys I Targaryen at his death birth was misunderstood.

 Despite the tumultuous events of the Dance of the Dragons, this principle remained largely upheld. Aemond’s path to power was through his role as a key military leader for the Greens, rather than direct ascension to the throne.

Primogeniture and the Targaryen Succession

There are law that protect how a king is crowned in the Westerosi society, it is called the  laws of primogeniture, this was what affected Aemond Targaryen’s claim to the Iron Throne .The laws of primogeniture states that eldest son inherited the crown, regardless of gender or ability. 

As you would know, Aemond Targaryen is  the younger brother of Aegon II, the mere fact of this has jeopardized his claim to the iron throne. The Targaryens don’t joke with their culture and history and they adhered to this traditional succession order.

This fundamental rule of inheritance ultimately prevented Aemond from ascending to the Iron Throne, despite his formidable character and ambitions.

Aegon’s Claim and Its Impact on Aemond’s Ambitions

The very fact that Aegon II was the eldest son has jeopadized Aemond Targaryen’s  ambition to the throne, been the eldest son means that he’s right is indisputable and it is unmatched  under the Westerosi law. It will be really hard for Aemond Targaryen to become king. But we can be too sure though, the movie is still unfolding and who knows what might happen. 

It is true that Aemond Targaryen has more pleasant character, i mean he is a better leader, he is a skilled fighter and he is bold, i personally like him to Aegon II, but rule is rule, he isn’t the eldest. 

So This law established by tradition and law, ultimately prevented Aemond from claiming the Iron Throne for himself.

Ultimately, Aemond Targaryen’s inability to claim the Iron Throne was a direct consequence of Westeros’ rigid adherence to primogeniture.
